Horizon Zero Dawn: The Frozen Wilds (2017, PS4 Pro) Horizon Zero Dawn was one of my favorite games in 2017. It was a fresh take on the open-world design that had grown stale in recent years. The world was interesting and vast without being cluttered and overwhelming. Some open-world games I have played legitimately intimidate me with how large they are and their seemingly never ending checklist of tasks. While the world of Horizon is undoubtedly large I never felt overwhelmed in the way I do in the Assassin's Creed franchise and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt (I still loved it). The Frozen Wilds is an expansion onto the main game essentially opening up a new region on the map and filling that region with new quests, characters, enemies, and collectibles. The game released to stellar reviews and is heralded by many as one of the greatest video games of all time. I have always meant to go back and play this game but was never able to get around to it, until now. It was announced last year that a full remake of the game would release in February 2018 on PS4. I decided then that I would finally pick up the game and see what all the fuss was about. Visually, the game is stunning. I ran it on my PS4 Pro with a 4k HDR enabled TV.
